Venezuela and three days at Angel Falls

Angel Falls plounge from a table flat mountain 900 meters down in a pool in Canaima NP in Venezuela. Before we could be witness to the tallest waterfall in the world, which have been a dream for me since i first saw Victoria Falls in 1999 we had to fly one hour in a Cessna flight above virgin rainforest make our way upstream for 4 hours in a motorized boat and hike one hour into the jungle in order to see Angel Falls with our own eyes. Needless to say the trip of getting there itself was unforgettable, but what met us in the end was nothing but spectacular.

Why go to Venezuela: Fantastic outdoor and trip to Angel falls

Best experience: Sleeping in hammocks at the foot of Angel falls

Worst experience: Exchanging Venezuelan Bolivars to a fake 100 USD bill in the airport in Caracas

When arriving at Ciduad Bolivar I went straight to the resort where I have booked ny trip to Angel Falls. Because of all the problems with Hugo Chavez we got an extra day at the resort for security reasons.

The laguna in Canaima NP at day time. We arrived here and stayed a night before continuing on to Angel falls.

Same laguna at night time. Awesome place secluded by rocks waterfalls and jungle.

Canaima NP has some of the most diverse bird life in the world.

The big water fall in the laguna. We walked behind it for a while. Needless to say we got wet.

Me with the Angel Falls behind me.

So peaceful and remote deep in the jungle of the Amazonas

The laguna from the beach where we were sleeping

Canaima NP around March can be pretty hot

After travelling a day we finally we reached the falls by boat. Now we just had to walk until we reached the drop.

Me in front of the cessna flight

Almost at the foot of the falls. I just had to get a picture of the jungle here.

Our camp for the night. Full of spiders everywhere.

Flat table mountains is common in Canaima NP. This is how I imagined Venezuela would be like.

North Venezuela at Santa Fe. Nice place to hang out after 4 days in the jungle.

We bought some fish and went on a trip to some small islands close to Santa Fe.

…and once again we saw dolphins lots and lots of dolphins…
